Day 60 of the 100 day project.
The 100-day project emerged from COVID-19 quarantine where it spread through social media. Creators of all mediums participated across the globe, and it inspired as well as impressed me. The subject and process of this project was inspired by my visit to the Acadian Center for the Arts’ exhibit of Eugene J. Martin’s heterochronic collages. He created this new type of collage, heterochronic- of different times, where the collages are composed solely of his own artworks that were created years ago as stand-alone works but later became integrated into more recent works on paper. With this project I wanted to finish work that I was stuck on, close to finishing, or just wasn’t working as a finished piece. On January 31st, 2023, I began my 100-day project.
Challenge One- Show up every day -Post a photo and time-lapse video of the process.
Challenge Two- Recycle old artworks-For the project I chose to use old artworks of mine to recycle them into new works.
Challenge Three- Experiment with materials and techniques
Challenge Four- Finish Unfinished Work- Along with recycling my old artwork, some pieces were just not good enough or were missing something. So, I was determined to finally finish these pieces. The work throughout this project, works vary in size from 4x4 to 24x36. For the first 90 days I completed a work of art a day. For the last 10 days I worked larger pieces and built up many layers with collage and gel mediums. (Because of drying time, I could not execute these pieces in one day, so I worked on them simultaneously)
